AU Women’s Basketball escapes Ursuline 72-70

The Ashland University Women’s Basketball team lived up to the old basketball adage “survive and advance” with their most recent victory to kick off the NCAA D-II Midwest Regional Tournament, this time against the Ursuline College Arrows.

Friday evening, the one-seeded Eagles defeated the Arrows 72-70 in dramatic fashion.

Sophomore forward Andi Daugherty led all scorers with 24 points, including the game-winning basket. Daugherty also grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Sophomore forward Laina Snyder added 18 points, as well as grabbing 15 rebounds.

The Eagles now prepare for the semifinal portion of NCAA Midwest Regional round of the NCAA Tournament.  The Eagles will play the fourth-seeded Drury University Panthers on Saturday, Mar. 12th at 7:30 pm.  That game will be broadcast live on 88.9 WRDL.
