AU Women’s Basketball advance to Sweet 16

Ashland University Women’s Basketball advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament after defeating the Grand Valley State Lakers 77-62 on Saturday, Mar. 11.

Inside Kate’s Gymnasium, the #1-seeded Eagles withstood the Lakers, overcoming a seven-point second quarter by scoring 43 points in the final two quarters.

Junior forward Andi Daugherty tallied her fourth double-double in six career games against the Lakers, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Junior forward Laina Snyder added 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

The Eagles now prepare for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament Championship game on Monday, Mar. 13.
