“Exploring World and Self” Opens, Cardiac Care Week Closes

Songs for a New World

Ashland University Department of Theatre continues their 2013-2014 season “Exploring World and Self” with the Smash-Hit, Off-Broadway musical Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown. Co-directed by Dr. Teresa Durbin-Ames, Associate Professor of Theatre, and senior musical theatre major Emily Jeppesen (Jefferson, Ohio), evening performances begin at 7:30 PM in Hugo Young Theatre on February 14, 15, 21 and 22, along with a2:00 PM matinee on Sunday, February 16.

AU Sorority Alpha Phi is also hosting a “bail out” fundraiser in the student center as part of Cardiac Care Week. Prominent people on campus are stuck inside a jail cell located by the Eagle’s Nest and passers by are asked to donate money to help them get out of jail. All the proceeds of the event go toward cardiac disease research. Alpha Phi Philanthropy Chair Ariana Ortiz joined the morning show crew Friday to talk about the event.
