AU Women’s Basketball advance to the Elite Eight

Ashland University Women’s Basketball advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament after defeating the Drury Panthers 74-62 on Monday, Mar. 13.

Inside Kate’s Gymnasium, the #1-seeded Eagles outlasted the Panthers, improving to 3-0 all-time in home regional title games.

After the team’s victory, junior forward Andi Daugherty was announced as the Midwest Regional Tournament MVP. In the three regional games, Daugherty posted 45 points, 24 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Eagles’ 34 wins this season are the second-most in program history, trailing the 37 games won in 2012-13.

The Eagles now prepare for an Elite Eight matchup in the national quarterfinal round, against an opponent yet to be named.
